Mudroom/Entry Way to School House

Old time builders were smart.  Most buildings had a small "mudroom" or entry way.  Its purpose was to "double door" entry to the house.  You could close one door behind you before opening the next and this way keep the cold weather out and the heat in.  Often folks would take their boots or outside shoes off in this "room" to keep from dragging muddy footprints into the house.

The school house mudroom was sadly rotted away from the roof to the walls and floor.  It was impossible to repair.  But we knew we could always add a new one later at almost no expense.
